![]() ![]() Anthony's autism is quite severe, and at 17 years old, he still doesn't speak. ![]() He has a twin sister and is the same age as my oldest daughter, and their first few years were spent together. Love Anthony was inspired by my beloved cousin's son, Anthony. Again, what does it feel like to have this bizarre condition, to walk through a whole world only aware of half of it? I'd read about left side neglect, or hemispatial neglect, many times during my training as a neuroscientist, including in a brief chapter of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks. Left Neglected was inspired by curiosity. ![]() So Still Alice was inspired by my experience with my grandmother. I'm so glad Still Alice was able to help you. Two years after she passed away, I rearranged my life to answer that question. I kept wondering, "What does is feel like to have this from her perspective?" I couldn't get to an answer. My grandmother had Alzheimer's, and I had such a hard time staying connected to her. I'm sorry you lost both grandfathers to Alzheimer's. ![]() ![]() ![]() This book will also be a great nominee for next year's Battle of the Books competition.Ī great title for any day, anytime of the week when you're in need of a getaway from the struggles of reality. I finished the book in four hours and loved every hour, minute, and second of this book. The only way to fight the urge is to keep reading until you're done. The storyline of this book is similar to Fight Club where you imagine a society being something else in your mind but, it's totally different than expected and in the words of Edward Norton.THIS IS TOO MUCH! Written however for the middle grade-YA audience, Adam Borba did a marvelous job with the sentence structure, vocabulary use, and plot creation keeping my eyes glued to the page fighting the urge of desire to anxiously anticipate how this will end. The creativity expressed by Adam Borba in a difficult situation lived through by Carl Chesterfield struggling through life and finding out about a secret club called the Midnight Brigade showing a total act of desperation to be one of their elite members. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of Little Brown Books for Young Readers through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. ![]() ![]() ![]() Of course, by now you should also have read Bill Fairclough’s epic spy novel Beyond Enkription in The Burlington Files series, written for espionage cognoscenti and real spies. You must read Robert Ludlum’s novels (including The Bourne Sacrifice) and don’t stop at just watching the films if you’re an espionage aficionado, an Ian Fleming follower, a 007 devotee or just “Bourne” a spy catcher and know who wrote the “Trout Memo”. The James Bond series misses the cut because while they are great books, they are short and do not build the suspense like Ludlum does in his books. ![]() Alex Rider takes the crown for the best kids spy series and each cater to their audience.
